Looks about my sons size..... How is he heavy enough to not have the auto-cut-off switch triggering over every bump? It's the only thing keeping mine from having a full-time job......
When my kid was about 12 years old it was "Dad can I cut the grass" I would say "Yes, you can" Now, I damn near have to beat him to get him on the John Deere
He’s got an ass made of lead like mine. He’s 9 and heavier than he looks. 70-75 pounds now. But it did sputter a bit if his butt slid in the seat here and there. He did ask if he was getting paid. He’s no fool. I’ll probably toss him $5 to keep him inspired to keep doing it.
Mine started at 7, he doesn't really care to do it much anymore at 12. His younger brother who is also 7 started this year and is doing a great job.
Although I am not taking away how awesome it is and truly one of those proud dad moments but unless you are teaching him a life lesson about chores and work the best day ever is writing a check for someone else to cut your grass seriously though that’s pretty awesome.
It’s all about life lessons with me CB. He knows life is about making good choices and doing the right things. He got $5 for his work. He’s reminded money is opportunity. Once spent that opportunity is gone. So make sure he spends it on something he truly wants. Earn more and you earn greater opportunities.
Did you take 20% of that $5 for taxes? That was a real life lesson for me when I started working. Ha.
yeah, when i let the boy play with the battery power drill "pretend tractor repair" he slipped and wound up the torx bit on the upper leg, resulting in a scratch next to his man parts. Mommy then ended up suspending power tool usage for another year. he got the danger of it now
Had the eldest with me in the shop one day, maybe 4 yrs old, wanted to do something so I handed her a screwdriver and told her to take the license plate off the car. Fucked if she didn’t go right ahead and do it, too! And I did have to stifle a giggle or two when the short round had the blower and her older sister was yelling at her, “Blow my head!”
I remember when my dad finally bought a riding mower. It was after I moved out and he had to mow it himself.
That’s awesome. Nothing wrong with offering a cash incentive or reward for a job well done. That’s life. This is the reality. Ultimately, this is what’s it’s all about for the majority. Don’t we all gets jobs that reward us monetarily for our work performance. What better way to instil the concept of work reward.
I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed when I got into this thread. I thought it was a revival of an old “Michael Jackson’s been assassinated” thread. But yeah, making people and ruling them while promoting slave labor is cool.
