In the early 2000s it was racing from concrete patch to concrete patch and avoiding the sealer too.

No clue, but they did seal it immediately so most likely.

I heard rumor that they spray it with VHT before Indy, I know a wet drag strip could work as a hockey rink.

VHT wears off quicker than this stuff.

I'm also loving all the rumors going one extreme to the other. They either made it more slippery so the cars wouldn't tear up the track or they made it more sticky (VHT) so the cars have even more grip in the corners.

I heard the sealant was applied by terrorists prior to 9/11 knowing it would slowly degrade and negatively affect the American road-racing population.

Evidence: no Americans in motoGP. Thanks Osama!

Not this year. Floods just wiped out the rest of the season.

  15. NOLA and Atlanta Motorsports Park were in there somewhere too. There have been quite a few tracks built over the past 10-12 years; the problem is some aren’t suited for bikes.

Personally, I don’t understand it. I can’t see how/why people would spend hundreds of millions on building a track from scratch, only for it to have one or several critical safety flaws so it isn’t viable for motorcycles.

In the design phase they could easily reach out to people like WERA, Bargy, Ulrich, etc and ask “will this layout and runoff be safe for motorcycles?”.

If you are starting from scratch and already spending this _________ much, why not spend this __ much more and remove some trees, or move a wall back?

I understand motorcycles not being the target demographic, but why limit your earnings potential with problems that are easily resolved, especially if caught during the design phase?

Sounds like shubie. "You want to race? Or get your nails done?"

In regards to the question of whether the cars can handle the rain at MidO…. I watched the vintage car races there last year in the rain -- they couldn't get any grip either. Lots of spins … especially on the parts of the track where it's hardest to avoid the seal coat.

That said, I still like the place but I'm pretty selective about what conditions I'll go out in there.
