Water can cause lithium to release hydrogen. That would be bad. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-b...hium-ion-battery-fire-in-an-electronic-device
I’m assuming this was years ago. This would not be a good idea for The new Lithium ion batteries. A chemical agent is required.
Even after the expense of replacing all the bikes and infrastructure, they'll still be saving money vs. racing their trucks.
I was at the AHRMA round couple of years ago the VA Tech Bolt caught fire. They tried ALL the extinguishers and water to put that thing out. They ended up just letting it burn itself out. AHRMA now states if your are racing an E-bike you need a 5 star or something like that so if your bike catches fire you can put it out.
While I feel bad for all the people that just lost everything, I also hate E bikes, so Im very conflicted right now.
I hate the parrot speak of how great and wonderful it is. When it's only pandering to a subset. And with that I shall retire to the dungeon
Do you think these things even had insurance on them? Seems like dealing with race machines would be a hella risky investment for an insurance company and if they did agree to insure them, I imagine the premiums were outrageous.
