Well yeah there will be regulation. Control of it all however will keep it from being a huge deal anytime soon unless it's federal and mandated. It also won't be feasible for the majority of the country (area not population). Still totally lost on how it'll bring about societal collapse. Absolutely on the bet, don't care if I win or lose I'll still get a cheeseburger out of the deal 22 years tho - no way I'll last that long
You misunderstand me. My contention is that an autonomous transportation grid is inevitable unless society implodes.
What would be a problem is if we move to some sort of electric road type system where the vehicles get their energy by a government provided grid. Yes, I realize gas is one of the first things to get scarce in times of panic, but it can be hoarded. A power grid would disappear instantly (and could be shut off on purpose to suit the needs of the overlords).
The transportation grid, utilizing technology currently in development, would be just a control network. The vehicles would be independently powered and able to make use of existing infrastructure. Providing a single remote power source for moving vehicles adds several layers of complication.
Those are way cool. They would have a meaning and more than likely help with self conscious issues. Two thumbs up.
Ahhhhhhh - got ya. Still disagree with it happening on a huge scale (and honestly would love it on a small to medium scale).
You and I will be loading our walkers into an automated car and going out for burgers. Make sure that you have a good spot in mind.
