Silly question and morbid to have, but are real human skulls illegal to possess, if they're proven to not have been involved with any foul play? Surely there's a market for these things?

friend of mine found a human skull while on Greece. He was hitchhiking across Europe in the 90's and was staying in an old goat shed (that was once some kind of rock house) for the summer and found it in some debris. He boxed it up and sent it back here to the states. Still has it.
