I went ahead and went with the ditra. It’s only about 50 sqft. Also for removing the linoleum remnants, I poured water on it and then scraped it off easy.
Nope, It was a remodel. Just the score and break, the grinder and wetsaw were on the bottom floor in the garage. We did two full bathrooms, a stone accent wall on a damn ledge... And a brick accent wall behind the bed in the master bedroom, oh and speaking of HGTV, we installed a barndoor style door
I laughed when my wife said she wanted that. But still fancier than the late 70s shit that was in there before
Well here's more subway tile for ya! Just finished this last week (still need to caulk). I was going to put the tile on the drywall, but got a surprise when I pulled off the quartz 4" back splash. The counter top installers left about 1/2" gap to the wall, so I had to install backer board anyway. Oh, and grouting the concave tile over the stove was a bitch!
Previous owner of my old house hired someone to tile the bathroom. That transition from one tile to the next looks quite sharp and dangerous eh? How dangerous? Well I don't know, I haven't yet scanned the bar code to find out.
I used 10x40" tiles in the shower, strategically avoided cutting any on the long side. It sucked badly cutting the "U" shapes for the niches though.
.5x.5 or 1x1" alum. angle will cover that nicely... it's how I finished the outside edge of my shower
Of course this SOB goes on sale after I finish my projects (for this house). I almost bought one for the shower job but it's kind of a space hog for my already crowded garage. My HF 7" portable saw sufficed for now. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-25-hp-tilebrick-saw-69275.html
I bought a 7” small table saw type at Lowe’s today. It isn’t rated to cut 12x24 tile but we’ll see how it goes. Great work on the backsplash by the way
I have this one https://www.harborfreight.com/7-in-portable-wet-cut-tile-saw-69231.html works great for the $$ and this one https://www.harborfreight.com/4-in-handheld-dry-cut-tile-saw-62296.html not all that useful also have one of the "score and snap" types, really nice when you can get it to work, but trashed far to many big tiles trying. I'm sure it would be better on thinner/smaller tiles.
