It still sounds more like Honda and Magnetti Marelli's problem than the rules, imo. They had a product and it almost killed John McGuinness and Guy Martin, that's not MA's problem. Pretty sure Westby was running a more rudimentary set-up on their Yamaha and were podium competitive on the bookends of the season when they figured the tire situation out. Bad deal and maybe a lesson in dealing with the Italians and their bonkers August holiday. I believe Cosworth was building motors for Ten Kate - that's a lot of blown up engines!
That was a good article. ECU problems make me hate electronics! I've had bikes in limp-mode on track, not start at all, not get out of pit-limiter speeds and other 'features' with what should be simple flash tuning.
