Created in 1970, this legendary circuit has hosted 14 Formula 1 French Grand Prix races, 22 Bol d’Or motorcycle endurance races and 13 motorcycle Grand Prix world championships. In 1999, the Paul Ricard circuit closed for renovation work to transform it into an innovative new circuit. The Paul Ricard HTTT (High Tech Test Track), as it is now known, once again hosted an international motorcycle racing championship in 2015 with the return of the Bol d’Or round of the FIM EWC. The Bol d’Or, which is taking place for the 81st time in 2017, has been held at different circuits over the years. Initially a road race when it was created in 1922, it later moved to various purpose-built circuits – Montlhéry, Le Mans, Paul Ricard and Nevers Magny-Cours – before returning to Castellet and the Paul Ricard circuit in 2015. The Bol d’Or is the world's oldest motorbike endurance race and according to its first edition's regulation, each bike had to be ridden by only one pilot. The riders were entitled to 4 hours rest that were discretionary: in fact, Zind did not take advantage of them. None of the 17 bikes at the starting line was using Brembo brakes: the reason is simple, Brembo was founded in 1961 and only since 1972 it started producing brakes for motorbikes. http://www.brembo.com/en/company/news/bol-d’or-for-dummies
I'm having a hard time finding interest now that GMT is no longer in endurance. Might even have to pull for SERT.
I cringe every time someone says "The 24 Hours of Bol d'Or." It's like saying "The 60 Minutes of Super Bowl."
I think the track looks nice on video but in reality it’s not that great, IMHO Lacks flow and is kind of boring
