I found this on a website:
The 2005 model has a tested wet weight of 444 lb (201 kg).[5] Power output is tested at 147.3 hp (109.8 kW) and peak torque is 75.4 ft⋅lbf (102.2 N⋅m) both at the rear wheel.[1]

I have an ECU flash, K&N air filter, no SET valve, Carbon Yoshi muffler
bike/engine has about 17K miles on it
It also has a 190/55 rear tire and a -1/+1 sprockets

I was using pump Premium with the 10% Ethanol added
The dyno room was 89F; humidity 53%
Mine put down in 5th gear:
    RWHP- 156.79
    RWTQ- 77.04

The operator was really excited and stated I should be very proud of 'her'
The HP and TQ curve was a perfect slope!
The A/F was acceptable too, and it was the real reason to get a dyno done in the first place.

The shop owner/operator is a major gear head, excellent rider, trackee, etc.,
When I saw how impressed he was at my results, that went a long way with me.

I know if I had Premium 93oct, w/o ethanol, and the Temp would have been in the 50-60F range or lower- I would have made 2-5 more hp too. And I realize it's not fair to compare #'s from different dynos really

Won't get rid of my K5 unless I destroy it. Fell in love with the thing from the minute I rolled out of the dealer's parking lot 13 years ago.

I remember being at the Daytona tire test and Geoff May had just gotten off his k5 when racing for RRW and was talking about how unreal the bike was.

It was super model skinny compared to the 600 & 750 of the time. But that power...

I bought enough of them to last a lifetime...lol. My original 06, plus 3 more. Love that bike!

It's an awesome bike. I have mine since new,it's been 12 years now. there's certainly a hype around the K5 1K.
There's an almost intuitive connection between the right hand and the throttle.I'm not talking about the initial throttle application, the power is just soooo "proportional" as you twist the throttle!
At 200,5kg wet weight,it's light even by today's standards.
One of the best superbikes of the "analogue" era, ever.

  7. I loved my K6. It was the black/ gray model.

I had that black/gray K6 1k, and the black/gray K6 600 at the same time. If someone didn’t know bikes, they were identical.

That’s why I always find it comical when people say “I need a 1000, I’m too big for a 600”. The bikes are dimensionally identical. Every measurement (height/width/length) is within 1-2mm. If someone is too big a 1000, then they are too big for a 600.

There are only a few bikes I regret getting rid of, and that K6 1k is one of them. It wasn’t as smart or fast or refined as the RSV4 or Panigale, but there was something about it that I liked. I always felt “at home” on it.

Today I get reminded of it every time I throw a leg over my 2016 GSX-S1000 which has basically the same motor but no fairings and Renthal bars :D

I have a K7, and it’s pretty damn capable. For comparison purposes when I had a new 2016 RSV4 it made 174 hp stock and 179 with a slip-on and Race ECU on ESP’s dyno. My K7 with just head work made 180 on the same dyno. So you can make whatever inferences you want to make but Aprilia claims that’s a 201 hp bike from the factory floor, and this K7 with some relatively easy head work made 6 more hp on the same dyno.

I’m not a fan of the hydraulic clutch though, I’ll say that of the K7s. I think the K5s had the cable-actuated clutch. Tbh, I don’t really know what all the differences are between the K5/6 and the K7/8, but I would guess they were fairly minor.

Thanks to all the replies, keep 'em coming...

Here's my K5 currently- the one with the Dyno.
It did the Dragon, Foothills Parkway, and Cherohala Skyway in May '18- under 12 parsecs!
    We rode Moonshiners 28 also.

    Well Hell,
I just found this on that same page I found the K5 #'s!

    2017 (L7)[edit]
The 2017 model, introduced to reporters at EICMA in late 2016, had a significantly redesigned engine the first since the last engine update on the 2009 model. This new engine has a higher RPM limit and no balancer shaft to quell vibration, also a mechanical variable valve timing used for ten years by Suzuki in MotoGP and drive by wire throttle.[6] This model is the first to get the addition of traction control with a (IMU) inertial measuring unit measuring yaw, roll and pitch also all lighting is now LED. Another first for any GSX-R is the use of a fuel gauge on this model.[7] Along with the new 2017 GSX-R1000 model, Suzuki has also released a up spec model GSX-R1000R; this R model comes with a Motion Track Brake System, Bi-directional quick shifter and launch control. Also on the R model, as reported by Sport Rider, are the same Showa Balance Free Front (BFF) fork and Balance Free Rear Cushion (BFRC Lite) shock that come standard on the 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R. Specifications are 199 horsepower at 13,200 rpm (claimed) and 157.2 hp (117.2 kW) (rear wheel), 86 lb-ft torque at 10,000 rpm (claimed) and 76.3 lb⋅ft (103.4 N⋅m) (rear wheel); 76.0 mm x 55.1 mm bore x stroke, and 13.2:1 compression ratio.[8][9][10]

'Specifications are 199 horsepower at 13,200 rpm (claimed) and 157.2 hp (117.2 kW) (rear wheel), 86 lb-ft torque at 10,000 rpm (claimed) and 76.3 lb⋅ft (103.4 N⋅m) (rear wheel)'

Well, my K5 just put down about the same #'s as the OEM stock L7 model? Holy shert shitlock!
I'm thinking those L7 #'s are a bit on the light side?

Don't want to disappoint you but due to noise regulations the L7' s throttle blades are restricted to 68% opening.
