Hardly ridden in the last 8 years. The previous owner rode it just 5 times in the 5 years he had it. I bought this in 2015 to have as my Plan B bike and only ended up riding it 3 days. (My Plan A bike, another SV behaved itself.) I then fell in love with an R6 so me and this SV are having an amicable divorce. What are the miles on the motor? I am not aware of any major differences between 03 and 05 engines. I assume the motor is stock (internals)?
I'm not sure of the mileage because the previous owner did the GSXR front end and didn't set up an odometer/speedometer, and when I bought it it already had the 05 engine. According to him he only rode it something like once a year for the five he had it. I know I've certainly only had it out there 3 trackdays because this was my Plan B bike. I believe the engine is stock because I definitely didn't touch it and the previous owner claimed the same.
Externally and performance wise, nothing. Internally the '03 cases and transmission shaft are unique to that year. Believe some people have said the rods and/or cranks were weaker in '03. The 2003 also had a single year unique steel subframe (heavy) which requires a '03 seat. In '04+ they changed to aluminum subframe and the seats are all the same.
The 03 subframe is just as light as the 05. I have both in hand and are almost identical in weight. Seats are different due to subframe mounting being different and higher on 03.
