The choice for the front runners was about contingency money not master cylinders but yes, there were fast guys on Suzukis.
I would much rather replace a simple bolt on quick shifter than have to drop the motor and replace transmission parts like the R1 recall.
Seems to be a non-issue on the track. The bike is knocking back wins left and right. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news...bruce-mclaren-motorsport-park-in-new-zealand/
Most (if not all) racing teams built their race bikes on the base model, so most possibly aftermarket quickshifters were fitted. Just sayin'...
Touchy bunch this mornin'. (I was kind enough not to ruin the weekend.) Y'all know someone had to stick the recall poke out there, just cuz. Of all the problems that a bike could have, a faulty quickshifter seems fairly common...as long as it's not due to the shift mechanism like years gone by. In that case, someone is likely to be chasin' their tail like Honda and it's "box full of neutrals". (I'm convinced the Honda has a slipper issue...no idea if they've resolved it.)
If it does turn into transmission issues the only good thing is the new GSXR has an cassette transmission. You can even get three different gear ratios from Yoshimura Japan. http://shop.yoshimura-jp.com/en/product/syousai.php?id=18126 https://japan.webike.net/products/23432615.html
I have the base model with FTECU QS and Autoblipper, with flashed ECU all by Attack. I am having the issue.
I got this from the Gixxer Forum. "spoke with suzuki yesterday, there is a fix for this on the way, they have worked out what the problem is (voltage drop on quickshifter) and are looking at options to replace the effected parts, i have the first kit coming to aus. unsure when that will be as yet."
Doesn't the fact that he's having an issue with an aftermarket elec unit point toward it being a hard parts issue?
Not the first time I've heard of a FTECU doing that even on other models. I believe Gary Virgin crashed at Tally due to his R1 acting flaky on auto blip.
