Depends on the actress and how good she is, I've known some who do 3-5 scenes a day for $200 a pop, other who get $3K. At 2,500/scene she'll probably be doing 1-2 every week while she's selling (there's a legit supply/demand method for this.) She is def an exception and most of it probably had to do with her being a bonafide teacher, kind of like Belle Knox who used her position as a student at Duke to gather a fan base and command higher pay. For the majority of girls who enter the industry they can expect to shoot 2-300 scenes a year to and make MAYBE $75K. They'll be burnt out in 3-6 months and no one will ever know their name.

You seem to have some insight/contacts in the industry that the majority of us don't.

I was thinking about this today and got to wondering a couple of things:

Do these girls (the 300 "scenes" a year for 75K) get paid cash? Are they 1099'd? Actual payroll with taxes and *gasp* health insurance withheld?

What about the girls that are household-ish names? Sunny Lane, Christy Canyon, Jenna Jameson, etc... Are they handed a 'wad' of cash after they wash off the ... ummm... well...

It seems that with the internet, youporn, redtube, probably a brazillion others I don't even know about, plus pirate sites out the wazoo... how is there even a market for selling porn nowadays? Do people still really pay good money for porno mags? DVDs? Streaming live whatever?

 

I've been wondering that for a while now. Who the hell pays for porn anymore.

 

The sex industry is HUGE, billions, hundreds of millions for select porn alone. The porn industry is highly regulated and so many laws that need to be followed, these girls are all 1099 contractors, no benefits, etc. A "scene" is just like it sounds, so a movie may have 5-7 scenes in it or a scene can be a stand alone video. At the bottom level all of this is run through shell companies that hides names, so you won't get a check from XXX films. XXX owns the rights and takes "management fees" from 2XIDB Studios and 2XIDB Studios shows up on your paycheck.

At the bottom of the industry you have 2-$300 a pop girls and you really don't see their stuff anywhere but backroom sites which have a $1-$5 subscription fee which can balloon into 20,50$100+ and yes people do pay for it. Most of these films are crappy quality, filmed with entry level cameras where you know it's low budget with one guy and a camera or two buddies. These are the ones like bangbus, milfhunter, facial abuse, etc. The "stranger" the porn gets the more the pay; DP, gang bang, interracial, old-young, BDSM, abuse, etc. the higher pay for the scenes getting into the thousands. For all of this there is a proverbial matrix that takes into account the people involved, popularity of the girl, and the type of work. The more popular or obscure, the higher the pay. Most girls will never, ever leave this phase. This is also the level where you'll see most of your "gay for pay" guys showing up and they can make around $3K/day doing it. Hell I know a guy that got paid to jack off on live cam, without his face being shown.

Theres many levels of the middle porn but these are more professional setups with crews and these companies usually have series or lower budget films. This is where your break out amateurs end up or your "stars" come to make a celebrity appearance for much higher pay than the girls they work with. These companies have production crews fully built, professional websites and have no issues sharing their 18 U.S. Code § 2257 records. A company like Brazzers or Naughty America is an example, although they are a giant could probably be called a studio now. You might have heard their girls names and they have mostly series they run like; Neighbor Affair, Diary of a Milf, My Friends Hot Mom, Friends Hot wife, Naughty Athletics Latin Adultery, etc. But they all fall under the Naughty America(NA) name. These companies will usually have spin offs like NA has Suite 703 (gay porn) and then individual series under that. They have dozens of full time staff the run multiple websites and media marketing and promotions.

The girls here may or may not be on contracts and would film only a few times a week, if that. they are still making the same 50-100K but are working much less. Here is the strange part where you want to do more scenes for pay and popularity but you risk getting burnt out and saturating the market if you're only mediocre. Girls will start making public appearances and get their name in a publication or a banner ad. Side revenue from cams and live performances pick up from here. You are still working, but you aren't treated like complete shit at this point.

Then you have your full fledged film studios like Wicked, Digital Playground, Vivid, Adam & Eve, Third Degree and more. These companies have full production crews, budgets, sets, etc. Some publish and distribute their films other contract it out. These are usually the things you don't see on free sites and you have to purchase or will sue the shit out of companies that post it. Try to find Pure Gold, Hustler, Wicked, Vivid, or Digital Playground on pornhub or some other site, if you do see it posted it'll be taken down in a matter of days.

These companies have the "porn stars" and these girls are on contract for X amount of years, films, etc. These are the names like Jenna Jameson, Kagney Linn Karter, Lisa Ann, Alexis Texas etc. They make big bucks and might only shoot once a month, they have gigs on radio shows, conventions, and other appearances. Every now and then you'll see them strip at a super high end club making even more money. These girls usually get lucky and make it to this point quickly before burning out or know someone in the industry before they started getting in front of the camera. Lisa Ann spent 21 years in the industry and only make about 500 films. Tera Patrick has done just over a hundred in 14 years but still commands a huge fee for appearances since being retired from film

Their big money comes from marketing, endorsements, websites, and the some go on to start their own productions companies which is where the millions come into play. You have probably heard most of the names at this level butt they aren't raking in stupid amounts of cash. There are probably 50 huge stars in all of porn history that make it to the level of ladies like Lisa Ann, Traci Lord, Bree Olson, Katie Morgan, or Tera Patrick.

A lot of side income is generated from cams, chat rooms, and PMs at the lower levels and a user will pay X amount more to get a private cam session with a girl. As your name grows you can start making appearances at conventions and command more money on things like chat and cams. Tera Patrick who rarely does film anymore is known to show up on cam sites and be prepared to drop some coin to get a private cam session with her.

Yes, people do pay for this stuff, just like we would buy a MM93 or VR46 shirt or poster people will idolize their starts buy all their videos, toys, or other products. Why buy MotoGP pass when you can get 90% of the quality from a torrent a little later? Why go see a movie or buy the DVD when you can eventually get it on netflix or priate the movie? The porn industry is no different and these stars followers are 50xIDB more loyal than any Uccio you've ever met.

Had one friend from high school who felt the need to tell me all about the gay industry but swore he wasn't gay.
