Bernie Sanders: What he's really about, in his own words

I had forgotten about your mind-reading abilities. Please tell me what percentage of blank ballots was in my own example. I forgot. :D
If you have a point to make, maybe you should think of coming up with your own example instead of trying to tell me what I was envisioning. I suggest staying away from motorcycle racing metaphors, those don't seem to work for you. Your focus should be on explaining how your votes for candidates who failed to get elected were more meaningful than anyone else's vote.

Had he been the Presidential candidate, I would have gone to the polls and voted for him.
    That's the difference.

Actually he was terse but Acree pointed out some things.

My biggest is get rid of employer paid insurance. Let capitalism work, when people have to pay for it directly cost becomes an issue. Further if insurance was REAL insurance rather than prepay it would only cover catastrophic and thus lower overhead. Add in that people would select hospitals in part on what can be afforded rather that the nicest by default.... etc.

So no we are NOT getting ripped off. We are getting what the system asks for which is heavily distorted by government mandates and tax law.

Oh and socialism IS bad

o_O Medicare is a big ass fat laden government bureaucracy, do you think it is better because Obama is in the name or

Isn't an employer-paid insurance capitalism, though? It's a component of the employee's compensation package. Employers make it more attractive to attract and retain better employees. Sounds pretty capitalistic to me.

Note: disregard if Obamacare made employer-paid insurance mandatory. My personal experience predates the reform.

Insurance is mandatory or you're fined - no mandate on who pays for it so employers don't have to. Totally agree it's just part of overall compensation.

Yeah, I knew it is mandatory for the individual to be covered.

What you're envisioning doesn't exist in the real world, which is what we are discussing.
And your question is meaningless. Voting for a possible winner and losing doesn't make your vote meaningless.

If the government would stop trying to "fix" the system it would not be as broken as it is. There is a reason that medical tourism is as big of a deal as it is. If I needed something expensive done I would likely go to someplace like Thailand and have US trained doctors with the same equipment do the procedure for a fraction of the cost. May as well get a vacation with your procedure.:D
I do know my health care is better here than it was when I lived in Canada though. When income taxes are figured in I still pay less money and get better service.

There are those who piss and moan, and those who actually analyze a problem and propose solutions.

Guess which category you fit into?

And if you can't come to a logical conclusion on why the pissers and moaners don't get a seat at the table, well, I guess that's not terribly surprising either.

So the difference is that you're a GOP automaton, and have a sense of moral superiority over those who choose not to vote for the candidate that they're offered.

Tell me again when I derided anyone for their choice of candidate?

Damn right. And we'll guarantee them a profit, just to make it really sting.

Actually, no, it is you and ganja dude who have the sense of superiority here.
I realise that the election is going to come down to a choice between two candidates, and I vote for the one who comes closest to what I would like to see.
My choice this time would have been Christie, but he's gone.
I will go and vote for someone other than Christie, because I like to live in the real world, and don't care to see another liberal President.
You go ahead and keep making a statement, though.
Let me know when the revolution starts.

That should make all of you ask why healthcare in the US is so expensive?

The same doctors. The same equipment. The same procedure. Why does it cost significantly more in the US? Why is the health care spent per capita in the US among the highest in the world?

There's no justifiable reason other than profit.

Profit for way more than the docs tho. Don't forget the other insurance companies getting paid - malpractice...

^THIS. Your medical dollars are supporting a hell of a lot more than medical care. They even pay for those expensive prime time commercials for drugs with worse side effects than the malady they treat.

From what I have seen government interference and few limits on law suits are what has driven up the cost. IMO, tort reform and going back to a more pure capitalist formula would drop costs significantly. Every time the imbeciles in Washington "fix" something service gets worse and costs go up. Obamacare is a prime example. 7 of the top 10 fastest growing industries are in the health care field. IMO this is thanks to government meddling and the inefficiencies introduced by said meddling.

If you've never seen a winning candidate get over 50% of the votes, you need to cut down on the drugs. And mathematically, that means that adding up the votes for all the losing candidates still doesn't change the results of the election.

And it's funny how you get to decide who the possible winners are so you can call your vote meaningful. You're not having a good couple of days on here.

Ah you had already mentioned the tort reform. That makes sense. Now go fix it!
