So, with all this talk of snow and ice up north and it only getting a blustery 65 here, I'm feeling like making some chili. If you have a good recipe post it up.
Good idea, I need a good chilli recipe. Other guys always bring it to work or the gun club and I've often thought about making some also. I have a bunch of goose I need to get rid of. Will that work for the meat?
Chili? Ehhh, not feeling that one tonight, but I am getting in the mood for some nice, hot gumbo.
I make a pretty good chili but I dont have a recipe, I just go by what looks like enough. I use a mixture of 90/10 ground beef and ground deer meat, red, black, spicy chili, and kidney beans, red and green bell pepper, red onions, usually 2 jalapenos and 1 jabanero. I make a ton at a time so its not to spicy ut has an awesome flavor. Also, I let mine simmer over night.
I like my chili and my beans. If chili doesn't have beans in it than it not chili. I bet you like macaroni or spaghetti in your's don't you?
I like this one a lot! 1 lb hamburger, browned & drained 1/2 medium onion, coarsely chopped 1/2 medium green pepper, coarsely chopped 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes 15 oz. can tomato sauce 2 cups water 1 1/2 tsp chili powder (or do half chili powder, half cayenne pepper) 1/2 tsp salt 2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce 1 tsp dried oregeno (optional) 1/4 tsp ginger (optional) 1 envelope dry onion soup mix 2 Tbsp brown sugar 15 oz can black or kidney beans In a large dutch oven/skillet, cook hamburger until well browned. Removed meat and drain off fat. In the same pan, cook onion & green pepper over medium heat 5 minutes until tender. Add hamburger and all remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat & simmer uncovered 1 to 2 hours, adding additional water if needed. Serves approx 6.
White guys trying to make chili??? LOL! Come on! I will make it easy for you. Go to the grocery store and get a packet of Carroll Shelby's honest to God Chili mix. If you have ground venison, use it. It's better than any beef for chili. If you don't have venison, ground buffalo or beef/pork mix will get you close. Follow the instructions but also add some Adobo and/or a packet of Sazon. Kidney beans are a necessity, as are stewed tomatoes w/chilis (Del Monte?). Let it cook for an hour or two then let it sit out overnight. Best damn chili you ever had, and it will taste like it was made by someone who speaks English as a second language.
I use regular meat, cheap streak something, not ground this or that. And the shelbys chili thing is good for novice chili cooks.
