I noticed that my ‘05 GSXR750 rear caliper has a groove worn in it where the pad back plate touches it. The groove is deep enough that the pad is hanging up in it causing my pedal to be soft. It appears to be about .030-.040 deep and only on the inner pad. It is actually bending the disk slightly when the pedal is pushed. Is this a common issue and should I just blend out the damage and run it or replace it?
holy crap. I've never seen anything like that. A dumb question, but are you sure that it wore a groove into the caliper and it's not just dirt and crap that built up around it?
the area around is painted gold like the rest of the caliper. I wouldn't think there would be a huge problem with just blending it but I would look at what caused it in the first place.
