I'm NEWBIE wanting to get into racing. Racers at the local track are recommending the GP125 class. I located a 1994 TZ125 for sale at a reasonable price. They tell me that a TZ would be more comfortable because I'm 6', 185 pound. I would appriciate anyones input on the Pros and Cons of a TZ?

Trust me, the TZ chassis is ALOT more comfortable than the 95+ RS. And the older RS's were even worse. And I am only 5'6"!!!

Yamaharick, please tell me more... I need to know. I read several GP web sites in regards to the RS vs. TZ, but they seem to lack info about he TZ. Can you tell me more about the TZ? Thanks

I've got two TZ125's ... one 94 and one 95. They are a hoot to ride and tons of fun. Yes, I am selling mine, as I have elected to concentrate on racing vintage bikes. I am selling the TZ's to "finance" the purchase of some other bikes.

I picked up a 1997 RS125 Honda rolling chassis for a friend of mine. When I was putting it in my garage for short term storage, I "rode" the chassis down my driveway. In full tuck position, the RS seemed more cramped than my TZ's. Mind you, this is just my humble opinion on this.

I've read that 95+ RS's are more comfortable than older Hondas. And more reliable. Therefore, regarding Hondas, I'd stick to the 95+ models.

~Generally~ speaking, the TZ's are a better handling package. And the Hondas have a power advantage over the TZ's. However, set up with either suspension or engine can make a dramatic difference. A good rider can do well on either machine.

Here's a link to a 125 mailing list:

You can find more info there.
