Well, this really is a TRACK DAY report and not a race report.
To got shown how slow I really am by Nicky Hayden. He was at the Buttonwillow Track Day this past weekend. I have no opinions of the guy, never met him, never talked to him. The closest I got was about 5 feet as he went by me and gave a thumbs up.
I was coming up on a group of 3 riders and Nicky came up on my right. Between the 3 in front of me and myself we bottled him up. I opened a big space for him to get by me and he gave me the thumbs up. Pretty cool. Then I guess he decided not to test his luck, and he just hung behind the other 3 until he could get off the track. I gather we already screwed up a hot lap, so no point for him to tanking any risks with the track full of loons. At least I got to follow Hayden around for ½ a lap http://www.wera.com/ubb/smile.gif
Well, I got a lot done at my track day. I knocked off another 8 seconds from my last outing there. Which basically means I cannot be lapped by the AFM #1 plate holder. So that is exciting, I will no longer get lapped in the sprints.
Another thing is that I initially went out in the “C” group (the slowest group). I toasted EVERYONE so I moved up to the “B” group. I am not bragging, just reflecting on how slow I was back in March. I just started racing this year. My first outing at Buttonwillow I was turning 2:50’s. This time (my third outing) I am at 2:13.
Well, I am happy http://www.wera.com/ubb/smile.gif
