Scorers are optional??

I read in the new RRW that scorers are optional for 2001 per a rule change. I just wanted to get that verified before I don't show up without a scorer. And no, I didn't read the new rulebook that you slaved over... http://www.wera.com/ubb/frown.gif

hey backdraft...human scoring is an option but if mongo 'bumps' the computer (or power outage, or any other 'accident') and the AMD transponder system is knocked out... you don't get scored.

What he said - optional yes, advisable unless you don't care where you finish even if it costs you money - no.

Why would you spend the time,money and effort to race in any series and not read the rule book? You could miss some rule and end up losing positions and money!

First off... I read the 2000 rulebook and didn't read word for word the 2001 YET. I read slow anyway..

Second... I'm not racing endurance for the money side. I want the seat time. 8th rather than 9th would be better, but it doesn't give me money. I don't run at the front and don't expect to for a while. So why fret??

BACKDRAFT -- GET A SCORER (Capitalized to express volume)

I know you are not in it for the money. The problem is there is money to be won. Lets say for instance you are in a class that has a limited number of entries. Lets say six...One or two of them have problems and another one does not have a scorer. You guys tool around getting seat time. Then all of a sudden the transponders go down. You have a scorer and the other team does not. You are now on the class podium and win contengency money. You guys had a great time and win money also. (IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THAN YOU THINK)

What did it cost you. One of you friends sitting around writing down times.

If I were a rider (Serious or Not) I would be pissed if we didn't win money cause we didn't want to get a scorer.

As you can see you didn't get much advise from the Endurance teams. (TEAM CHICAGO excluded) They would love it if you went without a scorer.

I promise if you run the remaining 8 rounds (I figure the TBA date to be a To Be Cancelled Date) At least one time having a scorer will pay off!
