Just out of curiosity.....why is Rush and Hannity bad for the republicans but people like Olberman, Mathews, and Maddow a gift to the left?

I don't think they are gift. I hate them slightly less...but wouldn't give up my spot in a life raft to them.

Do you disagree with the sentiment that Reagan is fictionally saying?

So why is it that only Rush and Hannity are vilified?

Maddow is actually the worst of them all. She has no substance what so ever except she hates anybody that does not think like her.

Since RR is held in such high regard...I was curious as to what people would say about him making that comment.

I tend to think that RR would have had issues with pundits interpretation of the serious nature of politics.

"In truth, Reagan governed from the middle like all presidents try to do. And in doing so, his record would in many ways alarm talk radio conservatives today."

I'm always interested in those that are diametrically opposed to me politically...and Rush and Hannity epitomize this.

See that is the problem, you want to focus on them instead of focusing on what people that governing are doing. I would think you would better off focusing more on what people in DC are doing since they are the ones that can and are effecting your life, not Rush.

This is what most republicans and conservatives do, Rush and Hannity for example and why I find the left media so lacking. They focus all their contempt on people talking about the people and never seem to really follow what is going on.

"Ronald Reagan understood that conservative ideology transcends the particulars. He realized that conservatism is a broad appeal when appealed broadly."

This seems to be contrary to what Hannity and Rush say.

Is anyone going to answer?

Well we focus on so much stuff in here....and surprisingly very little of it seems to be directed at the media outlets. Obviously according to the poll I ran awhile ago this forum pulls hard to the right. My curiosity gets me going... People say WWJD....but do they really do that....well my question is still out there.

And Venom51....I "release" just fine.

I'm finding it interesting that none of you...who normally have an opinion on everything...have nothing to say.

I guess that is my answer.

More so you gernarlize and throw us all in the "What would jesus do?" crowd. Some of us not so much.

Ok, ok. I'll enter into this little squabble just for the fun of it. First, and foremost, Reagan would not have ever said that. He was a hell of a lot smarter than to get into a pissing contest with someone that has a huge radio rating like Limbaugh.

Secondly, Let's look at the reason for your question. I will be willing to bet that you hold such disdain for Limbaugh for no other reason than you simply disagree with his opinion. You're liberal and he's conservative. Isn't that about it? :)

I don't hold the Gipper as high in regards as others (they seem to have forgotten his first term), but he had a great sense of decency. Privately he would have contempt for both Hannity & Limbaugh.

Are we forgetting that Reagan's primary career was as a performer? He was around to entertain people with his acting.

As mentioned, it is likely he would never have said anything about Rush or Hannity or Colmes(sp?) or Matthews, etc etc.

Rush's old ass was probably doing talk radio in Reagan's days. :D

Obscurity is the major falling point on the Internet. Hopefully that evaporates as well in time.

I still find it amusing that no one wanted to comment on the original part of my post. Of course if it had been Obama dressed liked Hitler, or the joker many of you would have felt free to comment. It just kind of shows me the narrowness that many on here cling to.

Obscure? I simply copied the quote into google and had pages of hits. It is not obscure. It even has a wiki entry and for a 16 or so year old cartoon from the New Yorker that makes it pretty well known. I wasn't familiar with the cartoon, but it was not difficult to find.

The fact that no one commented on something you posted simply means they didn't comment. Reading anything more than that into it is a bit ridiculous.
