I have wanted a 748R for about 5 years, so finally this winter I drove out to Kansas City and bought me a factory R Model 748, and I had the dealership I got it from do all the maintanence, belts, valve adj. oil change, engine ice, new brake fluid, grease the steering stem, replace the fork oil, basically get it all ready for the track,
I ran it about 25 laps and threw a belt, causing the valves to stick open, and ruin the valve train on one cylinder, the piston and the crank seem to be ok...
the bike is at a Ducati dealership right now, and I am going to pick it up tomorrow, but I do not have the money to repair it...they want $2k to repair it.
I did find a fresh 748R motor rebuild to 853 for about the same amount of money, but after paying for all the labor it would be outside of my budget...
so I am selling the bike as is.....not running and in need of a head rebuild...
here is what it is...
748R,
mileage unknown,
clean and clear title in hand,
brembo master cylinder,
brembo clutch master,
SS brake lines,
Fast by Ferraci Clip ons,
New, Gilles rearsets,
HMF slip ons,
custom chip,
stock steering damper,
race upper fairng stay,
it has the shower injectors, and all the factory R stuff,
showa suspension front and rear
Sharkskins bodywork, painted yellow, with white number plates, in good condition,
the wiring harness is still intack, so it could be returned to street,
I do not have any of the street stuff...
bike was claimed to have 113 rear wheel horse when I bought it....
I dont know if that is true, but it should be close to that...the R was considerably faster than the standard models...
as you can tell this is killing me to get rid of this..
but I am not in a financial situation to fix it...or to just let it sit and repair it when the money comes around....
so I am gonna try to sell it as it is....
and if no-one is interested, I will be parting it out starting next week,
so let me know if you need anything part wise, and I will make a list and contact you if the bike doesnt sell as a whole,
looking to get $4500.00 as it sits...
I will get some pics up tomorrow after I get it back from the shop....
I would also be willing to trade it for a track bike of equal or lesser value plus cash.... that is running,,, preferably a V twin...maybe a SV.....
let me know if you want more info...or need some parts from it...and I will let you know next week if the bike doesnt sell....
