I'll be your huckleberry.... I got an XT I will let him have for $100 plus shipping from 45140. I never do trackdays anymore so i have no need for it and I got a good deal on it to begin with so I will pay it forward if he is interested. PM me for more details.

you really need to check out a garmin 205/305 gps watch that will mount over your triple. I've found it to be as accurate as the $600 lap timers. Among the many things it can do, you can set an 'auto-lap' timer where you plug in the distance of the lap (to 100th/mile) and it automatically ticks off the laps. You can look at all the stats on the watch and you can upload everything to a computer. Once on your computer, it will plot the course on the simple mapping software and you can click your mouse on at any point on any lap to see your speed(it records data every second).
I picked up my 305 (which also has a heartrate monitor, 205 does not) for $150 on amazon.
It will also help you find your way home if you get lost!
I've been very happy with mine.

Did you get the 305 to check your heartrate at race pace on the track LOL Thanks for the info, I will look at them online. Maybe I will give mt XT to my bud and get a 205.

well I'm a runner so I already had the watch before I started doing track days. I do use the monitor though and it's interesting to see my HR spike when I start pushing it into a steep turn.

Everyone I've showed it to has been real impressed vs. their $600 laptimer.
