ok here's the story, i have 3 bike right now, i was trying to do the nice bike (08 R1), stunt bike (05 R6) and a track bike hence...the GSXR 750. background is i bought the bike completely wrecked...so instead of buying new plastics, headlight taillight etc, i was going to turn it into a track bike. (i live literally 10 mins away from Mid-OHIO in lexington. we have track days and all that good stuff which is why i bought it.

the bike:
first off it DOES NOT have a title. reason being the guy i bought it off of is STILL PAYING ON IT. ha ha. it didn't have insurance on it, it was his first bike @ 19 years old and he laid it down. i paid him 2700 for it. the reason i'm asking more is for all the parts i had to replace: tank, complete race plastics (painted black), had to get the frame professionally welded, the right side engine mount broke. (fixed now). right side clip on, right side peg, fairing stay, windscreen, radiatior, exhaust, front master cylinder, engine mount bolts. the bike needs a new chain, battery. It basically has everything there...here's my point when i took the bike to get the frame welded, we dropped the engine (around 1,7xx miles) and i haven't gotten the time to put it back together. so it's kinda in pieces, everything's there just needs assembled. frame and subframe are straight. so if you're a good wrencher then check it out. i bought it as a project and just don't have the time. all the wiring is there to make it street but i didn't want to mess with it that's why i wanted it to be track...also no title. if interested e-mail kyle112683@yahoo.com im not on here that often.

thanks

What happens if the guy stops paying on it? I think the bank would REPO it since they technically own it.

That is the scary part. Until he pays it off, gets the title and gets it to the new owner, the BANK owns it.

Maybe there is another take on it?

Good luck though!

Legally you cant sell this bike. Someone should shut this thread down.

Yeah. You might not mean to screw anybody, but this is not a good idea guy.

Pretty much.

Technically, the bike is not ever yours to begin with.

You paid $2700 for a trashed bike with no title and a broke frame. You got RIPPED..

what's to stop the previous owner from calling the cops and saying you stole his bike?

he gets it back, with all those nice new parts you replaced, and your left defending yourself in court. do you have a notarized bill of sale?

maybe the 19-yr-old isn't so dumb...

You are better off having you friend post here and try to sell the bike. It would be a lot easier for him to sell the bike, as the orginal owner, still paying for the bike, he should be able to get a title upon full payment.

Not selling this with a welded frame. I wouldn't ride it.

The person with the name currently on the title owns it and therefore claims responsibility in the eyes of the dmv and the law for any judgements against it. If that ain't you then you can't sell it.

Even he doesnt own it, the bank owns it.

man that was a quick shut down.

FYI, most bikes on here that dont have a title have been scrapped by insurance, IE BILL OF SALE ONLY!

But now if you signed that BIll of Sale, legally what he can do is take that bill of sale to the bank he has a lien with and with your signature, proper ID and proper wording on a Bill of Sale, he can transfer the loan into your name. I work for a bank... trust me, i know. Hope you didn't sign anything!
