Hate to see her go, she's served me well...but the wife says no dirt bike until one of the race bikes is gone.
$2400 or best offer, want it out of the garage
This is a 2002 Yamaha R6 that I bought off of a guy in the Navy who raced it one season in Hawaii. He bought the bike with 7000 street miles on it and converted it to a race bike. The bike now has about 1500 track miles additional on it.
The good:
Clean title, not a salvage title
Airtech Body Work
Resprung front fork for 200 lb rider
Ohlins rear shock
Woodcraft Rearsets
Woodcraft case cover
Wired for Racing
Extra rear rim
Steel braided brake lines
Clip on handlbars
Vortex fairing stay
520 chain with maybe 600 miles on it
Spare sprockets
Spare levers and pegs
D and D full exhaust
Things not perfect about bike:
Small hole right rear fairing where subframe went through fiberglass in a lowside.
One Subframe bolt mount snapped in lowside(does not affect since has 6 other mounting points)
Scuffing of exhaust can and right tank(minor) from lowside, tanks paint is not even chipped off.
A few mounting holes on right front fairing have stress cracks, but are still serviceable.
Motor runs a little rich after full pipe, and needs rejetting (still pulled hard enough to run 1:25's with my limited skill and 235 pounds of weight as it is now.)
In it's life as a race and track bike, the bike has had 3 low sides that I am aware of. The bike runs straight, i.e. take your hands off the bars and it does not pull, and I've always felt I have good front end fell with front tire push, etc.
The bike is not a brand spanking new race bike. It is a serviceable track day bike that still has some life left in it. It is a perfect bike for a novice or intermediate rider who does not want to wad up there 10,000 dollar street bike as they get closer to the limits of their machines. Crasing a couple thousand dollar track bike is a much better feeling than crashing your spotless streetbike. And this bike is set up to run on a track, and will get around faster because the suspension is set up for the track.
If you expect to eat a meal off of the spotless swingarm on your bike, this is not the bike for you. If you're looking for a bike to help improve your skills without risking your entire piggy bank in the process, you should take a look.
I am open to offers, but please do not respond if you are not serious or do not have access to cash to pay for it. This will be a good deal for someone looking for an entry level track day bike.
PM me with any questions.
