Wondering what the real market value for this old beast would be. I have limited info on it but it belongs to a co-worker of mine. I haven't see it in person but from what he describes it's in decent condition except for the fact that it has no carbs. He had a set of 41mm flatslides on it, took them off to be cleaned and the guy he took them to went out of business and disappeared with the carbs. It's got a big bore motor of some variety and some very nice period aluminum "superbike" wheels.
Questions
1) Any tips where I can get a set of carbs for it?
2) If it were in running condition, what is it worth?

I guess another way to look at it is that a guy was offering him $500 for it as it sits w/o carbs and he's considering going for it.
Seems like it's worth more than that to me, I'm thinking about snagging it and accepting the challenge of finding a suitable set of carbs. It'd be a cool around town bike. Maybe put the wife on it.

This is my favorite bike. Partly, because I was young and stupid. But it was fun surviving South Florida Traffic on it.
For nearly 3 years this was my only form of transportation.

For $500, snatch that. You could make out more on the parts itself. In fact there was a guy on the Kawi forum, asking about parts for that bike and people were telling him good luck on finding them. Just my 2 cents.

Running it's worth probably $2000 or so if it has a clear title, but it's really worth more than that to pull up at a ride or a bike night with something that old thats a SURVIVOR. You'll have guys on brand new $10,000-$13,000 bikes checking this one out 'cause you just don't see sportbikes this old anymore. My '87 Hurricane 1000 turned heads wherever I went. Buy it and find carbs, you should be able to find a set on the worldwideinterwebnet without too much trouble. Don't part it out, it's way too complete (and cool), it deserves better than that.

They look rough but are probably still serviceable..
Pick em up and have a go. If not, order a set of flatslides.

Alright it's available to the general public now, $2,000 takes it.

It went from $500 to $2000? Did you find carbs and get it running?

It's not my bike, it's my co-workers and yeah he wised up. It's still a cool old bike and 2 grand some of you guys can probably find in your couch. :D
Look, if the thing doesn't sell for $2000 that means I get it for a few bucks more than the $500 he was originally considering, so don't expect me to be too much of a cheerleader for the cause, haha.

$1999. I'm not sure why I'm working this hard to sell somebody else's bike. It's cool though, look at it.
