At 11,332 miles (January 2009):

-New NGK DB8EA9 plugs were gapped to .8mm and installed
-Castrol GTX 10w/40 oil and Yamaha filter were installed

Cleaned, polished, and waxed twice!

This beauty is ready to roll!

All components tested and working except for the tach, which refuses to register engine speed.
There is a small engine “cover-only” repair behind the rear brake lever
The previous owner left a clutch slave leaking so there is very slight cosmetic damage to the frame paint near the kickstand and there is a small section of the lower cowling broken off.

Also comes with a service manual on CD.

Please ask for detailed pics. You won’t be disappointed!

Overall, this is a superb and very clean motorcycle. Asking $2399/bo

Thanks Yankee. I love the look of the bikes from this era. My first was an 85 GS700ES, the year of the tariff. I still ride bikes from the late 80s and early 90s!

Oh man, I had a GS550E, red and white with the quarter fairing, kerker pipe, dunlop 291s and braided brake lines... :) Must have been an '85 or '86 as I recall... I even used Castrol oil too... turn your PM on...

Wow. It was the 550ES or 700ES when I was shopping and I went with the larger. Shortly after that I test rode my brother's friend's 87 FJ1200, and had to have one, so I picked up a leftover 86 FJ. My current FJ is my third, and I can't imagine not having one. They are really great bikes.

There are all sorts of rumors about what FJ means. Some say Fastest Japanese, as it was at the time. My friend just calls it the Fat Jet. lol I've let "The Bus" stick.
