The bike is in excellent condition. 7300 miles. Mods include Jardine carbon fiber exhaust, Power Commander III, Speedo Healer, 520 conversion with Vortex Sprockets, braided brake lines, Swingarm spools, tinted windscreen, Proton flush mounts with programmable flash sequence. Michelin Pilot Race tires with plenty of tread left. Bike runs strong and is in great shape. Has small abrasion on the right upper. Looks like it the paint was rubbed off by some tiedown straps. Never been dropped or wrecked. Title is clean and clear. I'm the 2nd owner. Also interested in trade for a GSXR-1000. Give me a call if you're seriously interested. 770-655-4471. Bike is located in Metro Atlanta, GA

You might want to list that on a site specifically for RC51's. You will never get 7k on this site.

but just a thought, you won't get $7k for it unless it was higly modded out (more then what you have there). On top of that its winter time, not gonna get your top dollar at this time. That and the economy sucks.
If I'm wrong though forgive me......... if ya wind up getting $7k for that let me know. I will be parting with my 03'RC51 also then :D
I think I bought mine 2 years ago at christmas time with about the same mods as yours (just about) for $5,000 a great deal at the time. Had the guy waiting for spring he would have gotten more.
I think even with my extras (damper, sato exhaust, sato rearsets, ohlins and so forth) I might be hard pressed to get $6k or $6,500.
I heard though in canada the value of rc51's are higher so.......... there is a thought.
Good luck with the sale. The 2003 is the best year out of the bunch.

I guess I should have put OBO in the title. I was trying to gauge what I should list it at. I thought 7k would be an OK starting point.

You might try knocking another $1000 off that.

Yeah. As a long time RC owner/racer, it is my opinion, that is the going rate for a bike in similar condition to yours. YMMV, but I doubt it.

Preciate the advice. $1000 under blue book is definitely not what I was expecting but oh well. I got some thinking to do now.

Well, I guess I've been being a bit optimistic about what my bike is worth so I'm making one last price drop and if it doesn't sell in a couple weeks or I find a good trade for a GSXR-1000 I'll keep it.

+1.
A buddy of mine had his bike sold to a guy in Canada that made TWO 4 hour round trips to the border to assure that the bike could come in when it he showed up the 3rd time. My buddy got cold feet, called the guy & said "I'm sorry, it is no longer for sale". You could hear the guy scream on the other end. Those Canadians go crazy for the 51 & If i had one to unload, i wouldn't even bother trying to sell it in the US as they barely get a notice here.

Right now add aproximately 32% for exchenge and other expences. US bike have just become more expensive than Canadian so good luck in making sales to CA. When the dollar was on par than yes it was worth it.

Here's a thought for you since you mentioned GSXR1ks.. I've got black and gold or blue and white 08's new on sale for $9499, and could give you $4800 trade-in against that...
Just a thought.

ive had my eye open for the right RC, and yes Im in canada, if you can find one around they are not that high price regardless, you can get a nicely modded one up here around 5gs, at your 5gs american that would be well up and into 7gs, no canucks are gonna pick up an american bike at the dollar rate and economy right now, people up here have theyre bikes already marked down just to unload inventory, if you americans were thinkng you
d be buying up our bikes your automaticall knocking 2gs off the top just on exchange alone.

Congrats! Well not really - your gonna miss the fat pig :D
So $5k did the trick? Mine is just gonna stay in the garage me thinks. Maybe one day it might be a collectors item.

reminds me a lot of when I tried to sell my 2001 RC51 back in '05
ended up letting it go for $4000
I regret that decision... but the GSX-R1000 that I got (and still have) simply blew it away

the market for these 51's clean is very good. Many still trade higher than the 5k that this bike brought. A few dealers I know have people still calling looking for clean examples. It's kinda a cult bike already. I believe we are looking at a future classic here. someone out there got a good deal.....just my two cents...

Yeah. He got a hell of a deal IMO. Young guy too. I just hope he doesn't wad it because I think it was his first bike. He said he had rode before but I was a little skeptical when he tried to start the bike with the on/off switch off.
I probably could've gotten more if I waited until the spring/summer but I'm looking to buy too. It's a good time to buy :D

I know how you feel selling a supersport bike to a newbie... anyways i'm glad that you sold it. And yes, in canada they are popular.
