So me and a few people here are wanting to take a roadtrip to get out of this ice/snow weather and head down south to ride. We found a trackday in LA for next month. Does anyone have any personal experience/opinions? Kinda like to get some feedback before we haul 4 bikes some 900 miles to get to a track that has needed to be repaved for 10 years or something. thanks! Oh its No Problems Raceway! That tidbit might help.

Really good facilities (for being in the middle of bean fields & gas refineries). I've done several track days there, would recommend. The guys that put it on (Tiger Track Days) are a swell bunch. Track is in good shape.

I thought there were some wall problems and that's why there were no races there. Changes made?

There are about 14 sections of airfence that are put up in turn 14 (turn with a drag-strip wall at the opposite end) during Tiger Track Days. This is different from a few months ago when there was just hay bales.

A far as it being race worthy, I can't really attest to that. There have been comments by other outsiders that there are a few areas that are of concern (turn 14 being the main culprit). It is a good track for track days. The surface is very uniform (probably not Barber quality but not so rugged or inconsistent to where you can't find a consistent line across the whole track). If you're a yankee looking for some track time to hone up on skills or settings during the winter, I think you'll find it suiting that need quite well.

More info can be found at www.noproblemraceway.com and www.tigertrackdays.com (the group hosting the January track day you're looking at). Also, you can go to their track sub-forum at www.rocketmadness.com to research previous comments on the track and quiz the locals that ride it monthly.

Hey Guys- *I am* Tiger Trackdays, so hopefully I can answer some questions. We do indeed have 10 sections of Airfence Bike that are deployed at all of our trackdays. The surface is not perfect, but its extremely grippy. Its settled and developed a bump or two here and there, but nothing bad. Not sure why the above poster would say its always needed a repave....the surface at NPR has historically been very good.

While we'd love to have you come visit rain or shine, I know ya'll are looking for a warm weather get away. My advice is just check the weather when its getting close. We have days here in January that are usually 50-60* and sunny, but we do get freezes a day or two at a time when a front rolls through. It's fairly easy to predict though, as it only gets that cold right at the edge of a cold front.

On our trackdays we run 3 groups, and we usually have 30-40 riders, with the most ever being 60. Plenty of tracktime to be had, as we ride from 9am-5pm with a minimal break for lunch. IF ya'll have any questions or if we can help any, just let me know.

Thanks,
Shane

Never heard of the airfence before. Im guessing its much safer than concrete. Is there a lot of run off room?? Not that i go offroading or anything. And thanks for the heads up on the weather. I saw the weather down there a few days ago and it said 81 i was like SWEET! Were gonna have about 6 of us coming down there. And as far as pavement, i went to Hallett and it wasnt all that great. Each corner had about 20 ft of bumpy stuff. So im sure this wont be bad at all. You guys require a class for all first timers there? What about renting leathers? Thanks Shane.

We do require all new riders attend our little orientation meeting after the normal riders meeting. We just spend about 30min going over procedural stuff and flags, then lead them around for a session or two with a control rider. After that they are on their own. Unfortunately we don't have leather rentals just yet. The track has plenty of run off room with excpetion to the dragstrip wall (where the airfence is placed), and another shallow turn in the back of the track.
